A new logo for Safesun!

22.08.2023

Safesun is the ideenKiND of Ferit Ozman and Nicole Orth. Their master electrician business is based in Ludwigshafen and has been active for over ten years! Safesun already had a logo, but it just didn't feel right anymore - so they asked us for help! We now want to tell you how our logo process with Safesun went and, of course, what the new logo from Ferits and Nicoles ideenKiND looks like.

From old to new!

Just like a year and a half ago, when we created a logo for Move, this time it was also about bringing the wishes of two people to a common denominator - which can always be a challenge! To begin with, Ferit and Nicole didn't want to deviate too far from their original logo (shown above): They wanted to keep the font similar, keep the colors the same, and just slightly alter the symbolism. However, since it is important to us not to just fulfill orders or blindly do what you are told like an AI - to stay with current discourses ;) - we told the two of them that we could get a lot more out of their logo!

Instead, we asked them to think from scratch: What should their logo trigger in viewers? What possible applications do they want for the logo? What values do they want to express with it? While Ferit and Nicole were answering these questions, they hardly knew what kind of logo they were describing; we, on the other hand, had a very good idea of what we wanted to convey with the new Safesun logo!

In the end, we knew that they wanted to convey a clear line with their logo and avoid unnecessary embellishments. They wanted the logo to be industrial and not playful; to demonstrate Safesun's know-how and man-power; to be reliable and professional, innovative and in tune with the times. In addition, they did not want a pure word mark, but also a symbolism that could stand on its own. With all these abstract values and promising ideas, we were then able to plunge into the actual work with great anticipation!

The development process - twice is better!

In order to achieve the best possible result, this time we worked on the logo with double the design power: Both Natalie and Julian tried their hand at designs for the logo.

After initial mood board drafts, Nicole and Ferit decided on a color scheme consisting of yellow and anthracite tones. With the color decision in mind, Natalie and Julian created various logo designs. On the one hand, we created designs that used less abstract symbols. Ideas included solar panels, batteries, lightning - and of course the sun.

However, as all these symbols are already frequently used for companies in this industry, it quickly became clear that we wanted to move more into the abstract area. Natalie and Julian took very different directions here. Fortunately, this made it all the more likely that Ferit and Nicole's personal tastes would be well met.

In the end, we ended up with the following two designs. What do they both have in common? The strong, straightforward font that conveys professionalism, strength and seriousness:

While the top design depicts two abstract solar panels in its symbolism, further representing Safesun's no-frills approach, the bottom design can recognize the "S" of "Safesun" as well as a solar panel in the middle, but also associates the entire symbol with dynamism and innovation through its momentum. Fortunately, Ferit and Nicole liked both logos, so we were already on the right track! They liked the second design a little more, so they decided to go with it and sent it back to the desk with a few comments.

We were happy that the design was already so well received and were happy to take care of Ferit and Nicole's wishes: The black panel in the middle of the logo should disappear, but the corners of the yellow curve should be pulled further into the middle to better represent the "S". They also wanted the words "Elektromeisterbetrieb" to be integrated into the logo. Thanks to their feedback, we were able to finalize the logo very easily:

We - and hopefully Ferit and Nicole - are over the moon with the final result, as we were able to integrate all the values we were asked to incorporate into the logo without being too unsubtle.

We wish them both the best of luck in their future endeavors and are excited to see what the future holds for them!
